Are witchcraft and Magic against the Holy Scriptures?
Is witchcraft against the Bible?
If watching films and reading books which tackle or depict things about witchcraft, especially if they are just fictions, are done purely for entertainment or clean fun, then no biblical teaching is violated. What is forbidden by God is to practice it. Leviticus 19:26 states:
“Don’t practice any kind of witchcraft.” (Contemporary English Version)
“Do not practice divination or seek omens” (New International Version)
“Do not practice fortune-telling or witchcraft” (New Living Translation).
“You must not practice divination or sorcery.” (Berean Study Bible)
“Do not practice any kind of magic. (Good News Translation)
“Never cast evil spells, and never consult fortunetellers.” (God’s Word Translation
In the same manner, God’s people are forbidden to rely on mediums and psychics for they will be defiled by them (Lev. 19:31). The sin committed by those who act as mediums or psychics and those who consult and follow them is grave in the sight of God:
“A man or woman who is a medium or spiritist among you must be put to death. You are to stone them; their blood will be on their own heads.” (Lev. 20:27, New International Version
“If any of you go for advice to people who consult the spirits of the dead, I will turn against you and will no longer consider you one of my people.” (Lev. 20:6, Good News Translation.)
So, what do you think?
