How to patch, clean, and repaint aluminum siding
You may fill the small punctures or cracks in aluminum siding with good-quality caulking compound.
How to clean aluminum siding
To a siding that chalks and discolors, you may apply a piece of masking tape, and then pull the tape off. If a whitish reside remains on the tape, you may scrub it with a wire brush and detergent solution to remove chalking or corrosion. Rinse the surface before it dries. You may use pressure washer especially for bigger areas.
How to repaint aluminum siding
To change the color of a cleaned surface, brush on two thin coats of an oil-or latex-based metal primer intended for bare aluminum. You may use fine sandpaper, feather, or sand smooth for any ridges or irregularities. Lastly, you may add a thin top coat of an acrylic paint with a semigloss finish.
Remember to make the paint coats thin so as to avoid cracking, especially that aluminum expands and contracts with weather changes. (Read: Five Things to Consider in Constructing a House)
