What are the 10 qualities of a good teacher?

The following are 10 of the qualities of a good teacher. If you are a teacher, do you possess them?

– Open-mindedness
Being open to new ways, new ideas, new systems, and new approaches. Being willing to listen to others’ ideas.

– Passion
Being passionate about teaching and helping students realize their dreams.

– Patience
Willing to keep explaining, knowing that eventually it would make sense. Willing to do what it takes, no matter how long it takes.

– Presentation Skills
Being skilled at creating presentation styles for various types of learners. Being able to teach in a different way if students don’t understand a subject.

– Respect
Having respect for peers and students—that gets him/her the respect back from others.

– Role Model
Being worthy of emulation for possessing virtues such as love, kindness, respect, morality, integrity, and the like.

– Sense of Humor
Being able to make other people laugh. When people laugh, they usually open their hearts and minds and accept what you say or teach.

– Support
Encouraging students if they are frustrated and provide true belief that they can succeed. Being there if students need extra help.

– Understanding
Having understanding of human nature and the maturity (or lack) of students, or of the things that affect the students’ ability to learn; the weather, the temperature in the classroom, the time of day, etc.

– Willingness to Learn
